A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

New Holland Workmaster 65

What they like

  • 50 PTO hp for $3,404 over the Workmaster 55 is the best-value step in the range - the 55 gives up 10 PTO hp for very little money saved
  • No DPF: Tier 4B is handled by cooled EGR and an oxidation catalyst, so there is no forced regeneration
  • 3,500 lb hitch at 24 in. behind the ball ends, with an auxiliary cylinder available to raise it further
  • 21.7 gal tank and 12.6 GPM implement flow are unchanged from the 75 hp model above it
  • Cab, air conditioning and hydrostatic power steering all come as standard equipment

What they complain about

  • Still a mechanical shuttle on a dry single-disc clutch rather than the wet power shuttle a Farmall 65A offers at this hp
  • 50 PTO hp from 64 engine hp is a 22% loss
  • The 555LU loader figure is quoted 800 mm ahead of the pivot pin, which is not comparable to a pin-rated rival without re-measuring
  • Cab only in the MY2026 book, so there is no ROPS version to save money on

New Holland PowerStar 75

What they like

  • Forward-reverse power shuttle on a wet clutch, so loader cycles do not wear a dry disc the way the Workmaster's mechanical shuttle does
  • Category II three-point with Lift-O-Matic Plus and an ASAE-rated 3,664 lb at 24 in., a proper step above the Workmaster's Cat I/II
  • Four cylinders and 207 cu in against the Workmaster's three-cylinder 179, which shows up as smoother running under PTO load
  • 23.8 gal of fuel and 22.4 GPM of total flow, with 12.9 GPM reserved for implements
  • Turbocharged and aftercooled rather than just turbocharged, and still Tier 4B on DOC plus cooled EGR with no DPF
  • The loader is factory-installed rather than dealer-fitted, so the mounts and plumbing are engineered in

What they complain about

  • $90,725 is the highest price in this hp class by a wide margin - a Farmall 75C or a Workmaster 75 cab does similar work for materially less
  • 61 PTO hp from 74 engine hp is a 18% loss on a tractor at this price
  • Cab only in the MY2026 book, so there is no ROPS version for a shed-height or orchard setting
  • The 655TL/710LU loader is rated 800 mm ahead of the pivot pin, a convention that makes 2,478 lb look weak against pin-quoted rivals and cannot honestly be converted
  • Base cover is 24 months or 2,000 hours, short against the six-year powertrain warranty New Holland puts on its own compacts
