New Holland fields 15 tractors on this list, smallest first. The one that buys the most PTO horsepower per dollar is the New Holland Boomer 40 at 0.97 PTO hp per $1,000 — counting the 9 of 12 whose prices are for a comparable build. The biggest loader figure is 2,371 lbs, on the New Holland Boomer 45, the New Holland Boomer 50 and the New Holland Boomer 55 — they share a loader, measured at the pivot pin, which is the convention 7 of the 15 loader-equipped models here publish.
Look at the engine plate on most of the blue compacts on this page and it reads LS. South Korea's LS Mtron has supplied CNH Industrial with compact tractors under 60 hp since 2009, renewed in January 2014 with a deal for 34,000 US- and European-spec Case IH and New Holland tractors and again with a 28,500-unit agreement for North America and Europe covering 2023 to 2025. That is why the Boomer 35 to 55 and the earlier Workmaster 35 and 40 list LS engines on their spec cards, and why owners treat LS dealers as a second parts counter. The smallest models come from elsewhere again: the Workmaster 25S carries a Yanmar engine and the Workmaster 25 a Mitsubishi.
That arrangement started to change in February 2026, when New Holland introduced the Workmaster 35C and 40C at the World Ag Expo and the National Farm Machinery Show and described them as designed and built in-house, with a choice of a three-range dual-pedal hydrostatic or a 12x12 synchronized shuttle, and they replace the Workmaster 35 and 40, which remain here as superseded entries. Above the compacts, the Workmaster 55, 65 and 75 and the PowerStar 75 are utility tractors with FPT engines. New Holland's Boomer Guard package on the Boomer and compact Workmaster lines has paired two years of bumper-to-bumper cover with four more years on the powertrain; the utility models carry shorter terms, shown on each model page.
Owners split along the same LS line. Mechanics vouch for how hard the small Workmasters are to kill, and the shared part numbers keep machines running when one dealer is out of stock, while the price gap to the LS twin is a fair question for anyone who does not need the New Holland store. The complaints gather around the loaders (joystick linkages and pins that wear or break), electrical faults that defeat dealer diagnosis on the utility models, a long list of grease points, and Boomer radiators that pack with clippings when mowing tall grass. Against Kubota's L and Deere's 3-series at similar horsepower, buyers here are usually choosing on price and the local dealer rather than on the spec sheet.

Cheapest way into a full-size compact rather than a sub-compact: a naturally aspirated 1.3-litre Mitsubishi S3L, 2,469 lb of tractor and a 1,808 lb hitch for $21,657 with the 12x12 shuttle. Hydrostatic is a $2,405 option and there is no cab.

Three-cylinder FPT power with no DPF and no regeneration cycle, which is most of the pitch: 74 hp that never stops to clean itself. A 12x12 power shuttle and a 3,500 lb hitch, optionable to 4,000 lb, make it a working loader tractor rather than a large compact.
