New HollandBoomer 45
Compact
45 hp engine · 38.2 PTO−15% to the shaft

The step in the Boomer range where the frame actually changes: 16x16 shuttle instead of 12x12, 2,756 lb at the ball ends instead of 1,808, the bigger 260TLA loader and 620 lb more tractor. That is what the roughly $6,700 over a Boomer 40 buys.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • The 1.9-litre LS L32L19 is turbocharged and common-rail at every hp point in the series, so the small end is not a detuned naturally aspirated engine
  • 2,756 lb at the ball ends is a 52% jump over the Boomer 40 and puts mid-size mounted implements in reach
  • The 260TLA lifts 2,371 lb at the pivot pin and reaches 109 in., against 1,822 lb and 104 in. from the 250TLA below it
  • 16x16 synchro shuttle gives four synchronised gears in four ranges - twice the ratio choice of the 12x12 on the smaller Boomers
  • Boomer Guard-6 runs 24 months or 750 hours bumper-to-bumper before the powertrain cover carries on to 72 months or 1,500 hours
  • 3,490 lb of ROPS weight means the tractor has the ballast to use the loader it is sold with

What they complain about

  • The implement pump is still 8.2 GPM, unchanged from the 35 hp Boomer, so loader cycle times do not improve with the bigger machine
  • Fuel capacity stays at 10.5 gal on the ROPS despite the extra weight and power, so working range drops
  • Cab adds $8,015 and 704 lb, which is a large step on a compact of this size
  • Cruise control remains a hydrostatic-only feature at a $2,405 option price

Middle of the big-frame Boomers and the one that changes nothing but the fuel map: 3,490 lb, 16x16 shuttle, 260TLA loader and a 2,756 lb hitch are all identical to the Boomer 45. You are paying about $4,162 for 4.3 PTO hp.

Top of the Boomer range and the point where the compact frame is fully loaded: 55 hp and 46.7 at the PTO on the same 3,490 lb chassis, 2,756 lb hitch and 260TLA loader the Boomer 45 carries. At $49,983 ROPS it prices against ROPS utility tractors that lift far more.
