A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

Case IH Farmall 65C

What they like

  • A 12 x 12 power shuttle with a wet clutch is standard, not an option - direction changes under a loaded bucket cost nothing but a lever
  • 3,956 lb of hitch lift at 24 in. behind the pin, with flex lower-link ends and telescopic stabilizers, on a Category 1/2 hitch
  • Cab is the only operator station, so climate control, glass and a proper seat are in the base price rather than a package
  • 12.9 gpm of implement flow with two rear remotes standard and a third optional
  • 23.8 gal of fuel and no DEF tank - internal EGR with a particulate catalyst rather than a filter, so no regeneration
  • Optional Lift-O-Matic and 540/540E PTO, and a 20 x 20 creeper build for tillage and planting work

What they complain about

  • Case IH publishes no list price and its Build & Price tool hands you to a dealer rather than a figure, so this page cannot tell you what it costs - every public number found either bundles the loader or is a financing offer
  • 50 PTO hp from 64 gross is a 78 percent driveline figure, and the 70 hp 70A beside it makes 62 - twelve more PTO horsepower from a smaller 2.2-litre engine
  • Cab-only means no cheap ROPS build, and at 6,548 lb MFD it is a heavy machine for chore work in tight yards
  • Case IH does not say where the L565's 2,734 lb was measured, so the loader figure is not comparable with a pivot-pin rating
  • No warranty term is printed in the utility brochure or on the model page, so the cover has to be confirmed at the dealer
  • 145.8 in. long and 98 in. to the top of the cab - it will not fit through a domestic barn door that a compact walks through

Case IH Farmall 90C

What they like

  • 21.7 gpm of implement flow, 4.8 gpm more than the 90A beside it and the highest in the medium utility line under 105 hp
  • Electronic draft control with lower-link sensing rather than the mechanical top-link sensing the A-series tractors use
  • 4,123 lb of hitch lift as standard and 6,938 lb with the optional auxiliary ram - the biggest optional lift in the class
  • Class 1.5 heavy-duty MFD front axle with limited slip, a step up from the Class 1.0 axle on the 90A and 100A
  • The L635 loader lifts 4,625 lb to 149 in., with non-self-levelling or mechanical self-levelling offered
  • 34.3 gal of fuel and 540/540E/1000 PTO speeds as standard

What they complain about

  • Case IH publishes no list price and its Build & Price tool hands you to a dealer rather than a figure, so this page cannot tell you what it costs - every public number found either bundles the loader or is a financing offer
  • One transmission only - the 24 x 24 Hi-Lo, with no option listed, so anyone who wants a simple 12 x 12 power shuttle has to buy the 90A instead
  • Stage V means SCR and a 3.4 gal DEF tank, where the small utility C tractors below it need no DEF at all
  • 10,240 lb bare is heavier than the 101 hp Farmall 100A and 1,422 lb over the 90A, so it compacts more and needs more tractor to move
  • Case IH's own model page leaves the PTO horsepower blank; the 73 hp figure comes from the utility brochure
  • The L635's 4,625 lb is published without a measuring point, so it cannot be set beside a pivot-pin figure
  • No warranty term is stated in the brochure or on the model page
