A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

Massey Ferguson 1GC.25B

What they like

  • 6.9 gpm against the 1GC.23B's 6, which is a 15 percent faster backhoe on a machine where hydraulic flow is the binding constraint
  • Factory-fitted 76 inch backhoe rather than a dealer subframe, so the mounting and the hydraulic tap are engineered and warranted together
  • Folding ROPS at 85.5 inches up, which a fixed-ROPS 1GC.25 cannot match for barn and tree clearance
  • 18.5 hp at the rear PTO plus a 2,000 rpm mid PTO, so it still mows properly between digging jobs
  • Shares the FL.1805 loader and the whole 1GC parts list with the three cheaper models in the range

What they complain about

  • Nothing publishes a bare-tractor price - AGCO's own price book has only one 1GC.25B row, $25,556, and it includes the FL.1805 loader and BH2720 backhoe fitted and assembled, while the dealer figures found ($25,162 and comparable) are the same bundle
  • Loader lift stays at 662 lb and the hitch at 661 lb, so the most expensive 1GC carries no more than the cheapest
  • Massey publishes no weight for any 1GC, which on a backhoe machine also leaves transport weight unknown
  • The 76 inch dig depth trails the Kubota BX23S, its closest cross-shop
  • No cab anywhere in the range
  • 6.6 gal of fuel is a short working day once a backhoe is doing the work

Massey Ferguson 2M.65

What they like

  • 3,483 lb of lift 24 inches behind the ball ends, the highest figure anywhere in the M Series and 176 lb above the 2M.60
  • The cab is the standard specification rather than a several-thousand-dollar option, which is unusual below 70 hp
  • 50.0 hp at the PTO, enough for a small round baler or a seven-foot cutter in real conditions
  • Reaches 65.7 hp naturally aspirated from the 2.4 L Iseki four-cylinder, with no turbocharger in the service schedule
  • Shares its chassis, hitch geometry and loader with the rest of the 2M range, so implements and parts carry across

What they complain about

  • No price published by Massey, no dealer lists the model at all, and it is absent from AGCO's August 2025 dealer price book entirely even though that book prices every other M Series machine - it is the least visible tractor in the range
  • Massey publishes no hydraulic flow figure for this model, and there is no specification-database entry for it either, unlike every other M
  • No fuel tank capacity is published anywhere
  • 1,880 lb at the loader is identical to the 39 hp end of the range, so the front end is badly out of step with a 65.7 hp engine
  • Massey quotes only cab figures, so there appears to be no open-station build and no way to buy this hitch capacity cheaper
  • At 4,608 lb it is the heaviest compact Massey sells, which tells on turf and soft ground
