Massey Ferguson 1M.25
Sub-Compact
24.8 hp engine · 18.2 PTO−27% to the shaft

Replaces the single MF 1526 at the bottom of the new M Series, and it buys real capacity over the 1GC sub-compacts below it: 1,058 lb at the hitch against 661, and 852 lb at the loader against 662, for about the same engine. Air-conditioned cab is optional, which no 1GC offers.

On the price: The maker's own published starting figure for the base build. A dealer adds a loader, a deck and freight on top.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

What owners say

What they like

  • 1,058 lb of lift 24 inches behind the ball ends against the 1GC's 661 lb, which is the difference between a light box blade and a real one
  • 852 lb at the loader measured 19.5 inches forward of the pivot pin - a conservative measuring point, so the working figure is honest rather than flattering
  • An air-conditioned cab is on the option list at 24.8 hp, which is rare this small and impossible on the 1GC range
  • Folding ROPS is standard rather than an upgrade, unlike the fixed hoop on the 1GC.23 and 1GC.25
  • A 12-speed power shuttle is offered as an alternative to the hydrostatic, so the same model covers both loader work and steady field work
  • Massey's 1.5 L Iseki three-cylinder is the same supplier as the rest of the compact range, so dealer familiarity carries across

What they complain about

  • The cab build is $6,745 over this platform in AGCO's price book, and tires are a required extra group at $1,913 or $2,346 - the base figure buys a tractor with neither
  • 5.5 gpm of implement flow with a further 3.3 for steering is modest, and is less than the 6.9 gpm the smaller 1GC.25 gets
  • Neither Massey nor the specification databases publish a fuel tank capacity for this model
  • 18.2 hp at the PTO out of 24.8 at the engine is a poor take-off fraction - the 22.5 hp 1GC.23 puts 18.3 hp down
  • Only a hydrostatic PTO figure is published; Massey lists no mechanical-transmission PTO rating for this model the way it does for every other M
  • Adding the cab takes it from 2,172 lb to 2,502 lb, which is a third of a ton of extra weight on a sub-compact chassis

Massey's 2025 renumbering retired the GC1700 line, and this is what took the GC1725M's place: the same 24.5 hp Iseki three-cylinder and two-range hydrostatic, now with push-button cruise control and a redesigned seat. The 1GC.25B adds a folding ROPS and a factory backhoe on the same frame.

Entry point to the 1GC range that replaced the GC1700 line in 2025, and the cheaper half of a two-model choice: 2 hp and 0.9 gpm less than the 1GC.25 beside it, for the same 661 lb hitch and 662 lb loader. Fixed ROPS here; the 1GC.23B folds it and adds a factory backhoe.

Iseki-built and noticeably more finished than most sub-compacts, with a drive-over deck and the tightest turning circle in the GC range. Massey has moved the badge to the 1GC line for 2026, so this one now survives only on the sub-compact comparison table.
