LS's value line answer to the 45 hp class: a Category 2 hitch rated 2,910 lb on a 3,724 lb ROPS-only frame, with an 8x8 synchro shuttle and no cab anywhere in the range. The MT345HE swaps the gearbox for a three-range hydrostatic at the same horsepower.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 2,910 lb of Category 2 lift on a 3,724 lb tractor is more hitch capacity per pound than anything else at 45 hp, and it takes full-size implements that a Cat 1 machine cannot
  • The L3C19-T is the same turbocharged 114.7 cu in three-cylinder LS puts in the dearer MT347 and MT352, so the value line is not running a de-rated engine
  • Priced several thousand under the MT347 despite sharing the engine block, which is the whole argument for the E line
  • 36 hp at the PTO from 45 gross through a gear box, and the HST version actually reads higher at 38.2 hp
  • 13.7 gal of fuel is more than the cab-capable MT347 carries in ROPS form

What they complain about

  • ROPS only - LS builds no cab on the MT3E frame, so this is not a winter machine
  • The 8x8 synchro shuttle still goes through the clutch on every direction change, which is felt on loader work
  • 2,360 lb at the loader is below what the MT347's LL4106 manages, so the hitch is stronger than the front end
  • LS states no measuring point for the loader figure, unlike its own 3-point rating
  • LS publishes no price, and the two dealer lists found for this model are a model year apart
  • No cruise control, and the value line drops the integrated features the MT3 gets as standard

Ten more horsepower than the MT345E on exactly the same 3,724 lb frame, hitch, loader and tank - LS charges about two thousand dollars for the difference and changes nothing else. The MT355HE substitutes a three-range hydrostatic and gains PTO power rather than losing it.

Turbocharging and a Category 2 hitch are what the MT3 frame adds over the MT2: 52 hp out of 114.7 cu in, 44.2 at the PTO through the hydrostatic, and 2,755 lb of rear lift where the 42.5 hp MT242 manages 1,808. Sixteen-speed shuttle and a power shuttle are both catalogued at the same hp point.

The only place in the MT3 range where 57 hp, a three-range hydrostatic and a sealed cab arrive together. HC is the hydrostatic cab build both dealer lists quote; the open-station MT357H runs several thousand less, and a PCT power-shuttle version sits alongside both.
