73 hp engine · 62.9 PTO−14% to the shaft

Ten horsepower over the MT463 on the same L4C25-T block, hitch and LL5001 loader - the MT4 frame's top rating. CPS is the sealed-cab power-shuttle build, which is the configuration both dealer price lists quote; a ROPS 16x16 synchro MT473 exists and runs several thousand less.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

What owners say

What they like

  • The power shuttle reverses without the clutch, which is the single feature that makes a day of loader work tolerable and which the base MT473 does not have
  • 62.9 hp at the PTO from 73 gross is only a 14 percent driveline loss, so a 7 ft cutter or a small round baler is well within reach
  • 3,483 lb of Category II lift is quoted 24 in behind the hitch end rather than at the ball ends, so it is the conservative number and understates the machine against rivals that publish the flattering one
  • 24.3 gal of fuel and 21.1 GPM of total flow are both genuine utility-class figures, not compact-class ones stretched
  • Costs roughly what a mid-spec 60 hp cab tractor does from the established brands, which is the entire reason to look at LS at this size

What they complain about

  • The 5,423 lb weight LS publishes is the bare figure, and the cab build this price describes is heavier - LS does not publish a separate cab weight
  • The 3,488 lb LL5001 loader is carried over unchanged from the 63 hp MT463, so none of the extra ten horsepower reaches the front end
  • LS publishes no price whatever, so the figure here is two dealer lists agreeing rather than a maker sheet
  • No measuring point is stated for the loader rating even though LS does state one for the 3-point
  • There is no hydrostatic option anywhere in the MT4 series
  • Parts and warranty support depend on a dealer network far thinner than Deere's or Kubota's, which is a real risk on a machine this expensive

Same 73 hp L4C25-T as the MT473, bolted into a far heavier chassis: 6,620 lb, a 20x20 gearbox and a Category II hitch rated 6,614 lb - nearly double the MT4's. LS builds no ROPS version, so a cab is not an option here, it is the machine.

7,827 lb, a 206.7 cu in four-cylinder and a 24x24 power shuttle at the bottom of LS's biggest chassis, sharing its frame and LL8100 loader with the 100 hp MT7101. Only 73.7 hp, so it is the cheap way into a tractor built two classes above its engine.

First genuinely big LS in the range: a four-cylinder L4C25-T, 21.1 GPM of pump, a 24.3-gallon tank and 5,313 lb of tractor. It is also one of the few machines anywhere that publishes its 3-point rating measured 24 in behind the hitch rather than at the ball ends, so 3,483 lb is a conservative number.
