A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
Bobcat CT2025
What they like
- 1,369 lb of loader lift at maximum height is more than double the 1000 platform's figure for about $3,500 more
- 1,631 lb at 24 in behind the lift point is a genuinely heavy hitch rating for a 24.5 hp tractor
- Still under 25 hp, so no diesel particulate filter and no regeneration cycle to plan work around
- 11.4 gpm combined flow - 6.9 implement plus 4.5 steering - leaves headroom for a third-function attachment
- The 9x3 manual is the cheaper of the two builds and keeps the transmission simple to service
- 9 gal of fuel under a 2,634 lb machine makes it behave much more like a compact than a sub-compact
What they complain about
- The 9x3 manual has no shuttle, so every direction change during loader work goes through the clutch
- The hydrostatic build costs $1,764 more, and that is before a loader is added to either one
- No cab is offered at this horsepower - open station only
- Choosing hydrostatic drops PTO output to 21.8 hp, so the transmission decision costs implement power
- Neither a warranty term nor a loader model name appears on the model page
John Deere 3025D
What they like
- Staying under 25 hp means no diesel particulate filter, so there are no regeneration cycles to sit through and one fewer expensive part to replace later
- 2,081 lb at 24 in. behind the link arms is a real 3-Series hitch, well beyond what the sub-25 hp sub-compacts manage
- 9.7 gal of fuel is half again the 3E line's 7.5 gal, so a full day of gear work does not mean a midday refuel
- Published Deere base list is around $20,857 before a loader, undercutting the hydrostatic 3025E by roughly $2,000 for the same hitch class
- At 2,778 lb it is heavier than a 3032E, which helps it stay planted with a loaded bucket up front
- Six years or 2,000 hours of powertrain coverage
What they complain about
- There is no hydrostatic option on the D line at any price, so every direction change on loader work goes through the clutch and shuttle lever
- 20.7 PTO hp is the lowest in the 3 Series and will limit you to a 5 ft rotary cutter in heavy grass
- No cab is offered on any 3D model, so this is a fair-weather machine
- 8.9 gpm total pump flow with 5.1 gpm reaching implements is the thinnest hydraulics in the family - a backhoe and loader together will feel slow
- The 300E loader lifts 1,186 lb at the pivot pin but only 845 lb measured 500 mm ahead of it, and the forward figure is what governs a loaded pallet fork
- Deere's most recent published base list price for this model is dated, and dealer 'starting at' quotes that look competitive usually have a 300E loader folded into them
