A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
Mahindra 1126
What they like
- Crosses 25 hp with no DPF and no regeneration cycle, which is the horsepower band where most rivals pick up aftertreatment
- 19.2 PTO hp handles a 60-inch mower deck or a five-foot rotary cutter that the 1120 would labour under
- Seven-year, 3,000-hour limited powertrain warranty, the longest term of any brand in this catalog
- Same 1,620 lb frame and L11 loader as the 20 hp 1120, so the whole series shares parts and implements
- 11.2 GPM total flow with 7.6 GPM to implements beats what several 25 hp sub-compacts route to the rear
- Hydrostatic steering with tilt and telescoping column, plus a cab option, on a machine under $19,000
- This is the one model in the series Mahindra actually photographs, so what you see in the configurator is the tractor you are buying
What they complain about
- $18,364 puts it within a few thousand of far better-supported 25 hp compacts from Kubota and Deere, and the dealer gap is the trade
- 3-point lift stays at 771 lb at 24 inches aft across the whole series, so the extra 5 hp over the 1120 buys nothing at the hitch
- HST only - the 1100 has no gear or shuttle variant
- The heated cab has no air conditioning, a real limit on a machine that will be mowing in July
- Mahindra publishes no Tier level for the engine, only the no-DPF claim
- 6.6 gallons of fuel on the series' thirstiest engine means the most frequent refuelling of the three
Mahindra 2126
What they like
- Crosses 25 hp while Mahindra still states no DPF and no regeneration cycle, which is the whole reason to shortlist this series
- The cab option includes air conditioning as well as heat, unlike the 1100 series' heat-only cab
- 1,760 lb of 3-point lift at 24 inches aft, more than double what Mahindra's sub-compacts offer
- Cab models add electronic rear hitch controls covering lift speed, draft, depth and auto-raise on turns - normally a much bigger tractor's feature
- The L21 loader lifts 1,477 lb at full height at the pivot pin, a conservative measuring point rather than a flattering one
- Three-range HST with an 11.2 mph top end makes it usable for moving around a property, not just working in one spot
- Seven-year, 3,000-hour limited powertrain coverage
What they complain about
- $29,499 for the cab is 40 percent over the open-station price, which buys a lot of tractor elsewhere
- Only 6.3 GPM of the 11.2 GPM total goes to implements, so a loader and a rear remote working together will feel sluggish
- 5.8 gallons of fuel on the series' strongest engine gives the shortest run time in the lineup
- 18.8 PTO hp from 25.3 gross is a 26 percent loss, steeper than most rivals at this size
- Mahindra's sparser US dealer footprint is the trade for the price, and cab electronics are exactly what you would rather not drive three hours to have looked at
