A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

New Holland Workmaster 35

What they like

  • Consistently one of the cheapest name-brand 35 HP compacts - typically undercuts a comparable Kubota L2501 or Deere 3025E package by thousands
  • Backed by New Holland's dealer network and CNH parts system, so support is stronger than buying the equivalent LS-badged tractor
  • 26.6 PTO HP through the HST comfortably runs a 5-foot bush hog or tiller, more grunt than the 25 HP economy class it's priced against
  • 1,808 lb rear lift handles the common box blade, rotary cutter, and rear blade lineup without drama
  • 13 GPM total hydraulic flow is generous for an economy compact, so loader cycles don't feel sluggish
  • Choice of true 12x12 synchronized shuttle for gear fans or a smooth 3-range HST for loader-heavy work

What they complain about

  • It's an LS tractor in blue paint - that's fine mechanically, but some CNH dealers know the Workmaster compacts less well than their bigger tractors
  • Loader lift of roughly 1,034 lbs at the pin is modest - a Kioti CK2620 or LS MT225S out-lifts it at similar or lower cost
  • The 7.4-gallon fuel tank is small for a 35 HP machine and needs midday refills on long mowing days
  • No cruise control even on the HST, a comfort miss competitors include
  • Resale is decent but blue compacts don't hold value like orange and green ones do
  • No factory cab option in this series, so winter users must look elsewhere or add aftermarket
  • The hydrostatic drive is audibly louder at transport speed than Kubota's equivalent

New Holland Workmaster 25

What they like

  • Carries the same 1,808 lb hitch as the 40 hp Workmaster, so implements are not limited by the smaller engine
  • Naturally aspirated with no turbo and no DPF in the exhaust - about as little to go wrong as a Tier 4 diesel gets
  • Four-wheel drive, wet disc brakes and hydrostatic power steering are all standard rather than option-box items
  • Boomer Guard-6 gives 24 months bumper-to-bumper then powertrain cover to 72 months or 1,500 hours
  • The 200LC lifts 1,600 lb at the pivot pin, which is high for the class and hp

What they complain about

  • 19.2 PTO hp on the shuttle drops to 17.1 if you take the hydrostatic, which is a real loss on a 25 hp machine
  • 7.4 gal of fuel is small even for a compact and shows up on a long mowing day
  • No cab is offered, and the ROPS has a fixed steering column rather than tilt
  • At 2,469 lb it is light for loader work and will want rear ballast with a full bucket
