A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
TYM 5520
What they like
- Turbocharging the 2,286 cc four to 55 hp keeps the machine narrow and light while giving it genuine 44 PTO hp
- 16 forward and 16 reverse synchromesh speeds, or a 4-range hydrostatic, with a 540/750 two-speed independent PTO either way
- 11.4 gpm to the implement circuit and 16.5 gpm total, so the BL200 loader's 2,701 lb capacity is usable rather than nominal
- A heated 5520C cab is catalogued on this chassis
- 15.5 in of ground clearance on a 71.1 in wheelbase gives it good field manners for a compact
What they complain about
- No published price at all: TYM states none and no two independent dealers quote a bare tractor
- The 3,306 lb Cat I hitch is the same as the 35 hp 3620's, so the extra 20 horsepower adds nothing at the back
- 11.8 gallons of fuel behind a turbocharged 55 hp engine is a short day
- TYM does not state the warranty for this model anywhere in its own material
- A turbo adds a maintenance item the naturally aspirated 4815 beside it does not have
TYM 5835
What they like
- A wet multi-disc power shuttle rather than a dry clutch, which is the single biggest quality-of-life difference on a loader tractor and is standard here
- 4,409 lb Cat II hitch with a mechanical position-and-draft lever - it will run implements the rest of the TYM compact line cannot
- The BL350 loader lifts 3,437 lb at the pivot pin to a 117.5 in lift height, enough to load a dump trailer over the side
- Four loader valves and two rear remotes are standard, so a grapple and a rear implement can both be plumbed without an add-on kit
- 18.1 in of ground clearance on a 78.7 in wheelbase, with a 15.3-gallon tank
- 70-amp alternator and a wet multi-disc PTO clutch, both sized for continuous work
What they complain about
- TYM publishes no price, and the dealer listings that quote one for this class are loader-inclusive packages
- Only a single gear pump: 11.4 gpm implement and 5.2 gpm steering come off one pump, where the lighter 5520 uses a dual pump
- 48 PTO hp from 58 gross is 83 percent, respectable but below what the Case IH or New Holland utility twins deliver at the same engine size
- The heated cab is an option and the brochure does not publish a cab weight
- No warranty terms are stated on the page or in the brochure
