A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
TYM T554
What they like
- 45.6 PTO hp from 55.9 gross, an 82 percent driveline figure and eight more PTO horsepower than the T454 on the same frame
- The turbocharged 4TNV86CT makes its power from 2,091 cc, less displacement than the naturally aspirated T454's 2,189 cc
- 2,945 lb of hitch lift still available 24 in. behind the link ends, out of 3,314 lb at the ends
- An all-season cab is offered, which no other Series 4 TYM has
- Two standard rear remote valves, cruise control and a 16 x 16 synchro shuttle
- 15.9 gal of fuel and 18.4 mph on the road
What they complain about
- TYM publishes no price - every model page ends at Request a Quote, and no two independent dealers quote a bare tractor, so the figure here would have to be invented
- 9.5 gpm of implement flow, less than the 11.4 gpm the cheaper naturally aspirated 4820 delivers
- Category I hitch on a 3,814 lb, 56 hp tractor
- Turbocharged where most of the TYM range is not, so there is a turbo and its plumbing to look after
- The TX55 loader's 2,478 lb is published only inside the brochure PDF - TYM's site has no TX55 page
- 1.1 gal less fuel than the lower-powered T454 on the identical chassis
TYM T574
What they like
- 3,822 lb of hitch lift, the most of any Category I tractor in this catalog, with 3,050 lb still available 24 in. behind the link ends
- Telescopic lower links and stabilizers standard, so mounted implements pin up without a second pair of hands
- 44.7 PTO hp from 55 gross, an 81 percent driveline figure
- The TX57 loader lifts 2,791 lb at the pivot point, 313 lb more than the TX55 on the T554
- Two standard rear remotes, cruise control and 15.9 gal of fuel
What they complain about
- TYM publishes no price - every model page ends at Request a Quote, and no two independent dealers quote a bare tractor, so the figure here would have to be invented
- 7.7 gpm of implement flow at 55 hp - the same pump the 30 hp 3015 uses, and the weakest part of this tractor by a wide margin
- F8 x R8 shuttle, half the ratios of the T554 that sits beside it at the same power
- Category I hitch rated 3,822 lb, which is more lift than the linkage class was designed around
- Turbocharged, unlike most of the naturally aspirated TYM range
- No cab is offered on the T574 where the T554 has one
- No hydrostatic build at all in this part of the range
