58.7 hp engine · 50 PTO−15% to the shaft

Kubota's cheapest route to a Category II hitch and 50 PTO hp. SU stands for the stripped specification - no cab is offered, the panel is analogue, the steering does not tilt, and the price list starts at the 2WD build.

On the price: The maker's own published starting figure for the base build. A dealer adds a loader, a deck and freight on top.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 3,307 lb of lift 24 in behind the lift points for $34,093 - the same hitch rating Kubota quotes on the $65,612 M4D-071
  • 50 PTO hp from a 58.7 hp engine, with a fully synchronized four-speed and a hydraulic shuttle for direction changes
  • 17.7 gal tank on a 4,387 lb tractor gives a long working day for the class
  • Category I and II hitch with telescopic lower links, so large implements hook up without a second person
  • At 4,387 lb in 4WD ROPS form it is a genuinely light utility tractor, which keeps it useful on soft or sloping ground

What they complain about

  • The $34,093 figure is the 2WD SUH; the 4WD SUHD costs more, so price the drive you need rather than the headline
  • No cab is offered at any price on the SU, unlike the M6060 and M7060 that sit above it
  • 10.6 gpm is the lowest pump output in the M60 range, so loader cycles are slower than on the M6060
  • Analogue instrument panel, no tilt steering and a semi-flat deck - the specification is visibly cut to hit the price
  • Kubota's own literature quotes this engine as both 58.7 hp gross and 57.9 hp depending on which page you read

The only one of the three MX utility tractors sold exclusively in 4WD. The turbocharged V2403-CR-T runs the same 148.6 cu in block as its dearer siblings, detuned to 50.3 hp in the 8F/8R gear build and 51.8 hp when ordered with hydrostatic.

Kubota's cheapest way into a Category II hitch and a 2.4L turbo four, at $29,170 base. It is the bridge between the L compacts and the M farm tractors, and the 2,310 lb rear lift is what buyers are actually paying the step-up for.

Hydrostatic only - Kubota offers no gear box on the biggest MX. The 63.4 hp tune of the V2403-CR-T sends 51.8 hp to the PTO, ten more than the MX4900, on a chassis that weighs just 18 lb more.
