Utility
55 hp engine · 44 PTO−20% to the shaft

Ten more horsepower than the MT345E on exactly the same 3,724 lb frame, hitch, loader and tank - LS charges about two thousand dollars for the difference and changes nothing else. The MT355HE substitutes a three-range hydrostatic and gains PTO power rather than losing it.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 44 hp at the PTO is enough for a 6 ft rotary cutter and a 6 ft tiller without the engine working, and the HST build reads 46.7 hp
  • Same L3C19-T engine, same 2,910 lb Category 2 hitch and same LL4105 loader as the MT345E, so the ten extra horsepower is the only thing being paid for
  • Among the least expensive routes to 55 hp with four-wheel drive and a loader-capable front end anywhere in the US market
  • Two-year bumper-to-bumper and six-year powertrain cover, with no deductible

What they complain about

  • Carries the identical 2,360 lb loader and 13.0 GPM pump as the 45 hp MT345E, so the extra power does not reach the hydraulics at all
  • ROPS only - no cab is built on the MT3E frame
  • At 3,724 lb it is light for 55 hp, so it needs rear ballast or loaded tires before the front end can use the loader hard
  • 8x8 synchro shuttle only on the E, so direction changes go through the clutch
  • LS publishes no price and states no loader measuring point
  • The 13.7 gal tank is sized for a 45 hp machine, and at 55 hp it empties correspondingly faster

LS's value line answer to the 45 hp class: a Category 2 hitch rated 2,910 lb on a 3,724 lb ROPS-only frame, with an 8x8 synchro shuttle and no cab anywhere in the range. The MT345HE swaps the gearbox for a three-range hydrostatic at the same horsepower.

Turbocharging and a Category 2 hitch are what the MT3 frame adds over the MT2: 52 hp out of 114.7 cu in, 44.2 at the PTO through the hydrostatic, and 2,755 lb of rear lift where the 42.5 hp MT242 manages 1,808. Sixteen-speed shuttle and a power shuttle are both catalogued at the same hp point.

The only place in the MT3 range where 57 hp, a three-range hydrostatic and a sealed cab arrive together. HC is the hydrostatic cab build both dealer lists quote; the open-station MT357H runs several thousand less, and a PCT power-shuttle version sits alongside both.
