Heaviest of the shuttle NX models at 4,209 lb, with 55 hp and 46 at the PTO. The extra 231 lb over the NX5010 is what the 2,761 lb loader and 3,177 lb hitch were designed around, which makes this the NX to buy for draft work.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 4,209 lb is the most weight in the shuttle NX line and the traction that tillage and box-blade work actually depend on
  • 46 PTO hp runs a seven-foot cutter or a tiller without the engine hunting
  • 3,177 lb Cat hitch and a 2,761 lb loader at the pivot pin, matched to a frame heavy enough to use them
  • $36,515 is $1,342 less than a 50.3 hp NS5310H, for 4.7 more engine hp and a larger hitch
  • 14.8 gal tank, 16.5 gpm pump, and a 72-month unlimited-hour powertrain warranty
  • Cab is a published factory option at $44,378

What they complain about

  • 4,209 lb is heavy for turf and orchard work, where the lighter DK5520 at the same 55 hp is the better tool
  • Shuttle only at this price; hydrostatic is $38,093
  • 16.5 gpm is the same flow the 45 hp NX4510 gets, so the hydraulics did not scale with the engine
  • The hitch and loader figures both come without a stated measuring point

Gathered from owner reports

What owners report

The NX5510 draws the most polarised owner reporting of any Kioti in this class, and the split is worth understanding rather than averaging. One heavily used company machine, run every night since it was bought new, has accumulated a long and specific list of faults that its operator describes in detail and concludes by advising people away from the brand. Against that, owners running their own machines - including one with over 500 hours bought used - report them working well with parts easy to get.

Where owners do agree is on why you would buy this model rather than a DK: it is the lifting, and specifically lifting in the conditions real work happens in rather than the conditions a spec sheet assumes.

What comes up favourably

  • Owners who chose it over the cheaper DK line did so for lift with margin, and one explains the reasoning well: he hauls water tanks that slosh, on grass and uneven ground, and wanted something that would lift 2,000 to 3,000 lb without strain or heavy ballasting rather than a rating achieved with static weight on hard level ground lifted slowly.
  • An owner with more than 500 hours on a cab model says he has not run into the transmission problems he had read about before buying, and he picked his up used for around $25,000 - well under the new price and inside a lot of buyers' budgets.
  • Owners with several Kiotis in the yard use the NX5510 as the heavy-lifting machine alongside smaller ones, which is a reasonable endorsement of where it sits in the range.
  • Owners doing dusty, dirty work such as forest mulching argue hard for the cab version on safety and productivity grounds - flying debris, dust and noise - and one who moved from an open station says he now works far longer stretches comfortably.

What comes up as a complaint

  • One machine run nightly for work since new has a long fault list: the three-point hitch began surging within a year, settling then lifting again every fifteen seconds unless fully down; the cab leaks at the interior mirror mount; door latches wore until a door swung open and shattered; the parking brake spring has snapped three times; and it eats belts.
  • Parts reports contradict each other outright. The operator above waited several weeks for a replacement door to come from Korea, while another owner says parts for his are easy to get. One dealer also told a shopper that Kioti-branded parts run three to four times the price of the equivalents on an older European machine he was cross-shopping.
  • The NX is the older design in Kioti's own range and owners say so. One with an NX5510 cab who has sat in the newer NS rates the NS clearly ahead on ergonomics - brighter dash, LED lighting, third-function controls built into the joystick - and says he would happily switch, staying put only because his NX is paid for and still working.
  • At 55 horsepower with a cab it competes directly with a new Kubota MX5400, and at least one owner weighing a fault-prone Kioti against a good price on the Kubota was actively considering the switch.

Questions worth asking

Why buy the NX5510 rather than a cheaper Kioti DK?
Lift, and the honest version of lift. One owner who made exactly this choice points out that published three-point ratings tend to describe best-case conditions - a static load, hard level ground, lifted slowly - and that his actual work is hauling water tanks that slosh around on grass and uneven surfaces. He wanted 2,000 to 3,000 lb without strain, ballast juggling or hoping. Owners who mostly pull implements behind the tractor rather than lift with it generally say the DK is the better buy.
Is the three-point hitch surging a known problem?
It is described in detail on one heavily worked machine, where the hitch began cycling within a year of new - dropping slightly then raising again roughly every fifteen seconds in any position other than fully down. That is one machine in commercial nightly use rather than a documented pattern across many, and other owners do not report it. It is specific enough to be worth asking a dealer about and checking on any used example you look at.
NX5510 or the newer NS series?
An owner of an NX5510 cab who has spent time in an NS at his dealer gives a useful read: the NS has newer ergonomics, a brighter dash, LED lights and third-function buttons built into the joystick, and felt bigger in person even though the NX is the taller machine and the NS the wider one. He rates the NS slightly behind on lifting but says he would happily take one, and stays with the NX because it is paid for. He also believes the two share filter kits, which softens the parts question.
Open station or cab?
Owners doing dirty work make the case for the cab strongly. One running forest mulching describes the work as dusty, loud and genuinely dangerous with flying debris, and says the enclosed machine is safer, cleaner and more productive. Having moved a smaller tractor from open station to cab as well, he reports working much longer sessions without dreading the dust, pollen and noise. On a large property the extra cost is easier to justify than it looks on the quote.

Summarised from public owner discussion, not from testing. Nothing here was measured by this site, and a report that recurs is not the same as a defect rate.
