LS MT357HC
Utility
57 hp engine · 48.4 PTO−15% to the shaft

The only place in the MT3 range where 57 hp, a three-range hydrostatic and a sealed cab arrive together. HC is the hydrostatic cab build both dealer lists quote; the open-station MT357H runs several thousand less, and a PCT power-shuttle version sits alongside both.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 48.4 hp at the PTO on the hydrostatic is higher than the 45.6 hp the gear build manages, so choosing HST here costs nothing in take-off power
  • 15.0 GPM of total flow in the HST cab specification, against 12.3 GPM on the gear ROPS build - the cab version gets the biggest pump in the series
  • 2,755 lb of Category 2 lift lets it carry full-size ground-engaging implements rather than the Cat 1 gear a 57 hp compact usually takes
  • A hydrostatic transmission and a sealed cab on the same machine is unusual at this price; most cab tractors in the class are shuttle-shift only
  • Six-year powertrain cover with no deductible, twice the usual term at this size

What they complain about

  • The two dealer figures differ by about 11 percent, so the price is shown as a range - LS publishes nothing to settle it
  • At 4,446 lb with the cab it is nearly 600 lb heavier than the ROPS build, which costs ground clearance and soft-ground manners
  • 12.4 gal of fuel is small for a 57 hp cab tractor working all day
  • The 2,396 lb LL4106 loader is shared with the 47 hp MT347, so the front end does not scale with the engine
  • LS states no measuring point for the loader rating
  • No cruise control is listed, which is a real omission on a hydrostatic machine meant for long mowing runs

First genuinely big LS in the range: a four-cylinder L4C25-T, 21.1 GPM of pump, a 24.3-gallon tank and 5,313 lb of tractor. It is also one of the few machines anywhere that publishes its 3-point rating measured 24 in behind the hitch rather than at the ball ends, so 3,483 lb is a conservative number.

Turbocharging and a Category 2 hitch are what the MT3 frame adds over the MT2: 52 hp out of 114.7 cu in, 44.2 at the PTO through the hydrostatic, and 2,755 lb of rear lift where the 42.5 hp MT242 manages 1,808. Sixteen-speed shuttle and a power shuttle are both catalogued at the same hp point.

Ten more horsepower than the MT345E on exactly the same 3,724 lb frame, hitch, loader and tank - LS charges about two thousand dollars for the difference and changes nothing else. The MT355HE substitutes a three-range hydrostatic and gains PTO power rather than losing it.
