On the price: The maker publishes one starting price for this series rather than a figure per model, and this is the cheapest model in it.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • At $14,189 open station this is the lowest published starting price of any 20-plus hp sub-compact in this catalog, and 4WD and hydrostatic drive are already in it
  • Mahindra states there is no DPF and no regeneration cycle, so there is no forced burn-off to wait out and no filter to replace down the road
  • Seven years and 3,000 hours of limited powertrain coverage is two years longer than the six-year terms Kubota and Kioti publish
  • Hydrostatic power steering with a tilt and telescoping column is standard, which is rare at this end of the price list
  • 11.2 GPM of total pump flow is generous for a 20 hp frame, and 7.6 GPM of it is routed to the implement circuit
  • The L11's 794 lb rating is quoted at full height at the pivot pin rather than at ground level, so it is a conservative number to compare against

What they complain about

  • 20.1 gross hp and only 13.9 at the PTO is the least power in the 1100 series, so thick grass or a heaped bucket will slow it down
  • Hydrostatic is the only transmission built for the 1100 - there is no gear or shuttle version to move to if you dislike an HST
  • Mahindra's US dealer count is a fraction of Kubota's or Deere's, so in much of the country the nearest 1100 service bay is a longer drive
  • The optional cab is heated only, with no air conditioning - the 2100 series cab gets both
  • 771 lb of 3-point lift measured 24 inches aft of the pin is light for anything past a box blade or a small rotary cutter
  • Mahindra publishes no Tier rating for this engine, only the no-DPF claim, so the emissions story is incomplete on paper
  • The 794 lb loader figure is the tractor's, not the package's - the L11 itself adds 406 lb that is not in the 1,620 lb bare weight

Gathered from owner reports

What owners report

There is very little owner material on the 1120 and what exists is bad. Three separate owners speak and none of them is happy: one simply says he cheaped out and regrets it against a Kubota, one lists a stuck hood latch and a failed steering-wheel adjuster inside fifteen hours, and a third documents a 2025 machine that lost a front tire bead in its first week, had the PTO switch pop out of its holder, dropped its right handrail off in his hand while he was climbing on, lost the neutral safety switch and finally stopped moving altogether - then sat while dealers quoted four to eight week waits, needing a trailer and winch he had to buy himself before a shop two hours away found the hydrostatic transmission had failed. Four accounts are not enough to call that a pattern of the model, but they are enough to say that none of what exists describes a good ownership experience.

What comes up as a complaint

  • Owners report small fittings failing very early - a hood latch that would not open again after one use and a steering-wheel adjuster that stopped locking, both inside the first fifteen hours
  • One 2025 machine failed progressively from its first week - tire bead, PTO switch, a handrail that broke off in the owner's hand as he climbed on, the neutral safety switch, then the hydrostatic transmission itself
  • Dealer capacity is part of the story in that account: every dealer in the owner's area quoted four to eight weeks before they could even look at it, and he had to buy a trailer and winch to move it himself

Questions worth asking

Should the failure reports put me off?
They should at least make you ask hard questions. There are only four accounts of it - but three are from owners and none reports a good experience, with failures ranging from trim and switches in the first fifteen hours to a hydrostatic transmission replacement. If you are considering one because of the price, weigh it against what a month or more of downtime and a self-funded recovery would cost you.
How does it compare against the Kubota BX at the same size?
The only direct comparison in this evidence comes from someone who owns the Mahindra and recommends the Kubota instead, describing his own purchase as cheaping out and the Kubota as a substantially better built machine. That is one opinion, but it is the only head-to-head available, and nothing here argues the other way.

Summarised from public owner discussion, not from testing. Nothing here was measured by this site, and a report that recurs is not the same as a defect rate.

Middle step of the 1100 series, and the one that buys real PTO power without crossing 25 hp: 22.9 gross hp and 16.8 at the shaft for $2,141 more than the 1120, on the same frame, same L11 loader and same 6.6-gallon tank. Heated cab optional.

Clears 25 hp without gaining a diesel particulate filter, which is the whole argument for the 1100 series: 25.3 gross hp, 19.2 at the PTO, and Mahindra still states no DPF and no regen. Top of the sub-compact range, HST only, heated cab optional at $25,324.
