A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

Case IH Farmall 60A

What they like

  • 51 PTO hp from 60 engine hp is the strongest ratio in the light utility A family and enough for a 7-foot cutter or a small round baler
  • Internal EGR plus a DOC and maintenance-free particulate catalyst - no DPF regeneration to interrupt a hay day
  • Same frame, wheelbase and hydraulics as the 50A, so the step up costs horsepower money rather than a different chassis
  • 540E economy PTO lets light jobs run at 2,016 engine rpm instead of 2,575, which is noticeably quieter as well as cheaper
  • Dual gear pumps keep steering flow separate from the 11.9 gpm implement circuit

What they complain about

  • No published price anywhere - Case IH quotes through dealers and the public listings all include a loader
  • The 13-gallon tank is small for a 60 hp tractor doing field work; the heavier 65A carries 21.7 gallons
  • 2WD is standard and MFD is an option, so the four-wheel-drive build costs extra
  • 8F x 8R mechanical shuttle only on this model - the 12x12 power shuttle that makes loader work clutchless is reserved for the 55A/65A/75A chassis
  • 75-amp alternator is modest if you plan to run a cab enclosure, lights and a beacon

Case IH Farmall 70A

What they like

  • 59 PTO hp runs equipment you would otherwise shop a 5075E or Workmaster 75 for, on a lighter and tighter-turning frame
  • The L555 loader is rated 2,734 lb to maximum height, a real step over the 2,205 lb L545 the smaller siblings pair with
  • No DPF: internal EGR, a DOC and a maintenance-free particulate catalyst handle Tier 4 B/Final
  • MFD turning radius of 190.9 in on a 97.6 in wheelbase is tight for a tractor with this much PTO power
  • Shares its whole parts list with the 50A and 60A, which keeps a dealer's shelf - and your downtime - short

What they complain about

  • Nothing about the price is public; Case IH sells the A series on quotation and every listing that shows a number has a loader on it
  • The 2,701 lb hitch is the same as the 53 hp 50A, so the extra 17 horsepower buys nothing at the back end
  • 13 gallons of fuel behind 70 hp is a short working day - expect to refuel mid-afternoon in hay
  • Only the 8F x 8R mechanical shuttle; no power shuttle option on this chassis
  • 2WD is the standard axle, and Case IH's own page quotes 59 PTO hp where the brochure says 61
