A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners of each one say

Kioti NS4710

What they like

  • 16.5 GPM total hydraulic flow is class-leading - loader and grapple work feels noticeably faster and smoother than a Kubota L3901 or Deere 3-series
  • At 4,027 lbs bare it outweighs comparable Kubota L-series tractors by close to half a ton, so it stays planted with a heavy bucket instead of getting tippy
  • Typically prices $4,000-8,000 under a comparably equipped Kubota MX5400 or Deere 4044M, which is the entire argument for buying one
  • The KL5520 loader lifts 2,105 lbs at the pin and takes skid-steer quick-attach implements, so you're not locked into proprietary attachments
  • Independent PTO, tilt steering, and cruise control come standard - features that are option-sheet upcharges on green and orange tractors
  • The factory cab version is one of the cheapest true climate-controlled cab tractors you can buy in the 45 HP class

What they complain about

  • Kioti's dealer network is far thinner than Deere or Kubota - if you're not near a good dealer, parts can take days instead of hours
  • Resale value trails Kubota and Deere noticeably, so you give back some of the purchase savings when you sell
  • The Tier 4 DPF needs regen cycles, and owners who do lots of low-RPM idle work find the regens frequent and annoying
  • The hydrostatic drive gives up several horsepower to the gear version before the shaft, so the rated 36.6 PTO hp is the gear figure
  • At over 4,000 lbs it will rut a soft lawn badly, so it's the wrong machine if half your work is on turf
  • The NS line sits confusingly between Kioti's own CK and DK series, and a similarly priced DK4520 has a heavier-duty frame
  • The loader valve and joystick are notchier than Kubota's equivalent, which is the kind of difference only a back-to-back demo shows up

Kioti DK5520

What they like

  • 45.6 PTO hp for $34,620 is among the cheapest 45-plus PTO horsepower in this catalog
  • Only $1,749 over the DK5020 for 4.7 more engine hp and 4.1 more at the PTO - a cheaper step than anywhere else in the Kioti range
  • Same 16.5 gpm pump, 2,474 lb loader and 2,716 lb hitch as the rest of the DK line, so the capability is not reduced to hit the price
  • 3,373 lb is light for 55 hp, which keeps it off soft ground that a heavier utility tractor would rut
  • Synchro shuttle plus 55 hp suits sustained field work rather than short bursts
  • 72-month powertrain term with unlimited hours, plus 24 months bumper-to-bumper covering labor

What they complain about

  • 3,373 lb cuts both ways: at 55 hp it is short of the traction weight to use all of that power in draft work without ballast
  • 11.9 gal is a small tank for 55 hp, and it is less than the 39.6 hp DK4220 carries
  • No hydrostatic and no cab on this trim, both of which live on the SEH models
  • Aftertreatment is not named for this engine, so regeneration behaviour is not knowable from the maker's page
