A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
Kubota M6060
What they like
- The V3307 gives 56 PTO hp, six more than the M5660SU, for $8,925 more
- Factory cab is offered, which the M5660SU cannot be ordered with at any price
- Full-flat deck on cab models and tilt steering standard, both absent from the SU below it
- Same 3,307 lb hitch capacity and LA1154 loader as the M7060 above it, so the step up in engine does not change what it can pick up
- 5,005 lb in 4WD ROPS form is 618 lb more than the M5660SU, which is useful ballast for loader work
- 18.5 gal in ROPS form rises to 23.8 gal when the cab is fitted
What they complain about
- 11.0 gpm to the hitch is barely above the M5660SU's 10.6, so the bigger engine does not speed the hydraulics up
- Only the M7060 offers the 12-speed box, so the M6060 is stuck with F8/R8
- One standard remote valve, with the second, third and flow control all chargeable options
- At $43,018 it costs more than a 63.4 hp MX6000 and a 60 hp L6070, both of which carry more modern cab and operator kit
Kubota M7060
What they like
- 62 PTO hp - two more than the M4-071 makes from the identical engine, because the M60 drivetrain takes less out of it
- $44,781 against $61,724 for an M4-071 with the same V3307 block and the same LA1154 loader
- The optional F12/R12 build brings a 16.2 gpm pump, electro-hydraulic 4WD and standard 540/540E
- 5,027 lb in 4WD ROPS trim is nearly a thousand pounds lighter than an M4, which matters on wet ground
- Cab, ROPS, 2WD and 4WD are all offered, so the same model covers a wide spread of jobs and budgets
What they complain about
- 62 PTO hp applies to the 8-speed builds; ordering the 12-speed drops it to 60
- The base 8-speed's 11.0 gpm is well short of the 16.7 gpm an M4 pushes to the hitch
- Semi-flat deck and an older operator station - the M60 platform predates the M4 and Grand L70 cabs by years
- Kubota's M-series powertrain cover is 36 months or 3,000 hours, against 72 months on the smaller L and MX tractors
