LS XJ2025H
Sub-Compact
24.4 hp engine · 18.5 PTO−24% to the shaft

LS's answer to the gap between a sub-compact and a real compact: Mitsubishi's S3L2 three-cylinder, 18.5 hp at the PTO, and 1,433 lb of rear lift on a 1,609 lb frame that still parks like a sub-compact. Dealer books put it around $21,300, since LS prints no price of its own.

On the price: This maker publishes no price, so the figure comes from dealer listings. Regional dealers price the same machine differently.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 1,433 lb of 3-point lift is roughly 45 percent more than the MT1 sub-compacts manage, on a frame only 165 lb heavier
  • 8.5 GPM total with 5.9 GPM to the implement circuit, against 6.7 and 4.6 on the MT1 - a meaningful difference on a backhoe or a grapple
  • Stays under 25 gross hp, so it meets Tier 4 Final without a particulate filter or a regeneration cycle
  • A cab is listed as an option on LS's own page, which is unusual at this size

What they complain about

  • No published price from LS at any level - series, model or configuration - so the figure is read off dealer books and moved about $1,400 between the two consulted
  • Only 18.5 hp reaches the PTO, so a 60 in finish mower is near the top of what it will turn comfortably
  • 1,091 lb loader lift is barely above the MT1's 1,008 lb despite the larger frame and hydraulics
  • LS states no measuring point for loader lift on this or any other model page
  • The XJ is a one-model series, so there is no step up or down within it if the fit is wrong

Gathered from owner reports

What owners report

Three owners speak about the XJ2025H and all three are content, which is unusual for a machine with this little written about it. The most experienced has had his four years with no issues and describes it the way owners of cheap, honest equipment usually do - simple, durable, not the most refined thing on the lot, but it does the work. Another bought partly for the frame, liking 25 hp on something slightly bigger than the usual sub-compact, and runs a plough, rototiller, disc and plastic layer on a small farm without complaint at around $21,000 out the door with a loader and interest-free financing over ten years. The one real criticism is the backhoe, which its owner calls underpowered and wishes were stronger.

What comes up favourably

  • The owner with the longest experience reports four years and no issues, describing it as simple and durable even if it is not a refined machine
  • It runs proper ground-engaging implements for its size - a plough, rototiller, disc and plastic layer all get named by one small-farm owner with no complaints
  • Price and terms are the draw: around $21,000 out the door with a loader, with interest-free financing stretched over ten years

What comes up as a complaint

  • The matching backhoe is the one component owners criticise - its owner calls it relatively underpowered and says he wishes it were stronger
  • Owners recommend it with a caveat about dealers rather than the tractor, since the brand's network is thin in many areas

Questions worth asking

Is it durable enough to buy on price alone?
The longest ownership report here runs four years with no issues, and describes the machine as simple and hard-wearing rather than polished. That is one voice, but the other two owners say much the same in fewer words. What none of them claims is refinement - if fit, finish and controls matter to you as much as capability, the premium brands are what you are paying the premium for.
Should I get the backhoe with it?
The only owner here who has one calls it relatively underpowered and says it is his single complaint about an otherwise good machine. If your digging is occasional, that is an argument for renting a mini excavator instead; if you need something on the back of the tractor regularly, go in expecting it to be slower than you hoped.
What can it handle?
Owners describe small-farm work rather than land clearing: a plough, a rototiller, a disc and a plastic layer for bed making, all run without complaint. One specifically likes having 25 hp on a slightly larger frame than the smallest sub-compacts use, which is what makes ground-engaging implements practical on it.

Summarised from public owner discussion, not from testing. Nothing here was measured by this site, and a report that recurs is not the same as a defect rate.

Yanmar's 3TNV80F under the hood is the reason to look at the top of the MT1 line: 24.7 hp kept deliberately under the 25 hp emissions threshold, so there is no diesel particulate filter and no regeneration cycle to sit through. LS publishes no price, so the figure here comes from dealer books at around $18,600.

Smallest machine LS sells in the US, and the only one under 1,500 lb. The Yanmar 3TNV76F stays under the 25 hp emissions line so there is no DPF to regenerate, and the 1,008 lb loader rating is unusually strong for a tractor this light.

LS builds its own engine, transmission and loader, which is how a 24.7 hp compact turns up with a 1,896 lb hitch - more rear lift than a Deere 2025R or Kubota B2601. Standard equipment is unusually complete for what it costs.
