MSRP, base build

Bobcat CT2035
Compact
34.9 hp engine · 29.4 PTO−16% to the shaft

A 34.9 hp Daedong three-cylinder dropped into the same 2000-platform chassis as the CT2025, which means ten more engine horsepower and almost no change in what the loader or hitch can lift. $28,653 in open station; the CT2535 adds a heated, air-conditioned cab at $41,173.

On the price: The maker's own published starting figure for the base build. A dealer adds a loader, a deck and freight on top.

Lift figures are the maker's and are quoted at whichever point the maker chose; the about page explains why two loaders with the same number do not lift the same pallet.

From owner discussion and long-term write-ups

What owners say

What they like

  • 29.4 PTO hp on the hydrostatic build turns a 6 ft rotary cutter or a mid-size tiller without lugging
  • An 8.4 ft turning radius on a 62.4 in wide, 3,005 lb machine is tight for the class
  • Three-range hydrostatic, or a manual-shift build that raises PTO output to 30.8 hp
  • The identical chassis is sold as the CT2535 with a factory cab, so the platform is not a dead end if heat and A/C become a priority later
  • 1,631 lb at 24 in behind the lift point covers a full Category 1 implement set

What they complain about

  • Loader lift moves only from 1,369 to 1,389 lb at max height over the CT2025 - ten extra engine horsepower buys 20 lb of lift
  • Hydraulic flow is unchanged at 11.4 gpm total, so loader cycle times do not improve either
  • The 9 gal tank is carried over from the 24.5 hp CT2025 but is now feeding a hungrier engine
  • Emissions hardware is not stated on the model page, so whether a particulate filter and its regeneration cycle are fitted has to be confirmed at the dealer
  • The cab version costs $12,520 more than the open-station build
  • No warranty term is published on the page

Gathered from owner reports

What owners report

There is not a lot of long-run owner reporting on the CT2035, and what there is splits between people happy with the machine and one specific durability complaint about the tires it comes on. The one buying note that recurs is financing: the shopper who compared rates found Bobcat's, alongside LS, better than the Japanese brands at the same time.

What comes up favourably

  • Owners like it and say so simply, with the one who is most enthusiastic still passing on the same advice he was given - buy the most horsepower you can afford.
  • Financing is a real part of the value case rather than a footnote. Shoppers comparing it against an LS MT242H, a Kubota L3302 and a TYM report Bobcat and LS offering the longest interest-free terms, and reckon they get more for the money than the Kubota at the same payment.

What comes up as a complaint

  • One owner five years into a machine bought new reports the front tires - Carlisle Trac Chiefs - badly cracked, with one no longer holding air and needing a tube fitted, and says the tire shop owner was surprised at the age. That is one owner's experience rather than a known pattern, but it is worth looking at the front tires on any used example and asking what a replacement set costs.
  • Even satisfied owners wish they had more engine. The one who loves his says he finds himself wanting more horsepower whenever he starts looking at three-point implements, which is the usual argument for buying up a size while you have the chance.

Questions worth asking

Should I buy the CT2035 or spend more for more horsepower?
The owner best placed to answer says spend more. He loves his CT2035 and still endorses the advice to get the most horsepower you can afford, because the limitation he actually runs into is looking at three-point implements he cannot properly run. No owner of one regrets buying too much tractor.
How does it compare on financing against LS, Kubota and TYM?
Favourably, and buyers treat that as part of the price. One shopper comparing all four found Bobcat and LS offering long interest-free terms where the TYM was several points higher, with Kubota matching on term but giving less machine for the money in his judgement. If you are financing, run the total cost rather than the sticker - the gap between an interest-free term and a rate near four percent over seven years is not small.

Summarised from public owner discussion, not from testing. Nothing here was measured by this site, and a report that recurs is not the same as a defect rate.

50.3 hp and 45.6 PTO hp for a published $32,608 - less than the 44.9 hp CT4045 costs, because this one is sold with the 8x8 synchro shuttle as its base build rather than a hydrostatic. It is the most PTO power per dollar Bobcat lists.

The 4000 platform is where Bobcat's tractors finally get a turbocharger, 16.5 gpm of hydraulics and a 2,716 lb hitch - a real jump in capability rather than another engine swap into the same frame. Base hydrostatic build starts at $34,400.
