A highlighted cell wins its row on the rule named above the table: more power, lift, capacity or flow, or a lower price. A lift row is left unwon whenever the two makers measured in different places, or where either of them did not say — a figure quoted at the pivot pin and one quoted 500 mm ahead of it describe the same loader and differ by roughly a third, so ranking them against each other would invent a result. Prices are typical list and move with dealer packages.
From owner discussion and long-term write-ups
What owners of each one say
Mahindra 6065
What they like
- 5,952 lb of 3-point lift at 24 inches aft is by a wide margin the most rear capacity of any Mahindra in this catalog
- A power shuttle is available on the 15F/15R box, so loader cycles need no clutch work
- Turbocharged, intercooled, common-rail injection is the most modern engine Mahindra sells in the US
- 15.7 GPM total flow with 11.1 GPM reaching implements, close to double what the 4500 series manages
- A cab with both heat and air conditioning is offered, which neither the 4500 nor 5100 series provides at any price
- 23.8 gallons of fuel and 6,548 lb of tractor put it in the same working class as the mid-size machines from Kubota and Deere
- The 6075-4L loader lifts 3,609 lb and reaches 133 inches, enough for stacking round bales two high
What they complain about
- $43,189 open station lands close to comparably sized Deere and Kubota utility tractors, so the Mahindra price advantage narrows as the machines get bigger
- Five years and 3,000 hours of powertrain coverage - the 6000 series does not get the seven-year term Mahindra's compacts carry
- Mahindra's no-DPF claim covers the 1100 and 2100 series; the 6000's common-rail engine carries no such published claim, and Mahindra names no Tier level for it either
- A turbo and common-rail injection mean more to go wrong than on the naturally aspirated 4500 and 5100 series
- Mahindra does not publish where the 3,609 lb loader rating was measured
- At this size a long drive to a dealer stops being an inconvenience and becomes downtime, and Mahindra's US network is far sparser than its rivals'
Mahindra 5155
What they like
- 47 PTO hp out of 166 cu in - nine more at the shaft than the 5145 from the same block, purely from the turbocharger
- 12F/12R full synchromesh with a forward-reverse synchro shuttle, so direction changes do not mean stopping to select a gear
- 3,748 lb of 3-point lift and a 3,100 lb loader on a 5,390 lb frame, which is real utility-tractor capacity at compact-tractor money
- Direct injection with no common rail keeps the fuel system simple for a turbocharged engine in this class
- Cheapest turbocharged tractor Mahindra sells, and the step up from the 5145 costs under $5,000
What they complain about
- Mahindra publishes no price for it - the 5100 series figure is the 5145's, so this comes from dealer books
- Open station only; the 5100 series has no cab at any model, and the nearest enclosed Mahindra is a 6000-series machine several thousand dollars up
- 13.3 GPM total flow is unchanged from the naturally aspirated 5145, so the extra engine does nothing for hydraulic speed
- Loader capacity and 3-point lift are identical to the 5145's, meaning the premium buys engine and nothing else
- Powertrain coverage drops to 5 years here - the 1600 and 4500 series both carry 7
